A semi tractor trailer driver was not injured when his vehicle caught fire early Wednesday on Hwy. 51, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.
Police responded at 2:38 a.m. to a report of a trailer tire that had caught fire in the northbound lane of the highway, about a half mile north of CTH Q. When deputies arrived the fire spread to the trailer, which was engulfed in flames.
The town of Pine River Fire Department was dispatched at 2:42 a.m., arriving on scene about 20 minutes later. The blaze was successfully contained and extinguished but Hwy. 51 was shut down for more than three hours as crews fought the fire.
The trailer is a total loss.
