The county’s health and human services committee will hear from engineers, doctors and residents at two March meetings as they consider spending $6-7 million to upgrade the North Central Health Care therapy pool.
At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, the committee will meet in the assembly room at the Marathon County Courthouse to hear cost estimates and options from a panel of experts including pool engineers and designers. Referring physicians will also speak on the benefits of aquatic physical therapy.
A second meeting, at 5 p.m. on March 20 will be held in the theater at North Central Health Care, where the committee will hear input from residents.
The aquatic therapy pool is at the end of its useful life, said County Administrator Brad Karger. The pool offers low-impact rehabilitation therapy to increase range of motion, improve balance increase strength and reduce pain for people recovering from surgery or an injury as well as people with physical disabilities and chronic conditions.
Both meetings are open to the public.
