WAUSAU – Olivia Rasmussen, a senior at Wausau East High School, has received the 2017 DECA Emerging Leader Honor Award, according to a Wausau School District news release.

The award recognizes students studying marketing, finance, hospitality and management who are academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. Award recipients must be a DECA member with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better in every high school semester.

DECA is a career and technical student organization with more than 210,000 student members. With a nearly 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. The DECA chapter advisor at Wausau East is Ann Ross.

Rasmussen, the daughter of Kari Rasmussen and Ian Rasmussen, will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall.
