Need an ID to vote in April? Here’s how to get one.

RIB MOUNTAIN – With Wisconsin’s spring election just weeks away, voters who need an ID are now able to get one on Saturdays at the Wausau area Division of Motor Vehicles Service Center.

The DMV service center in Rib Mountain is one of eight service centers statewide open from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

To obtain an ID, voters  can begin the process online using the official DMV webpage (wisconsindmv.gov) where they can locate or check wait times at their nearest DMV service center and get a checklist of documents to bring. To obtain an official photo ID card, some documentation is required, such as a birth certificate.

If official documentation is not readily available to the voter, the ID Petition Process can be used to obtain a receipt valid for voting while identity if being verified. IDs for voters are free.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission website, Bring It To The Ballot, lists other forms of ID acceptable for voting purposes and has information regarding voter eligibility, poll locations and other election information.
