MARSHFIELD – Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield will become a part of the Marshfield Clinic Health System under a new agreement with Ascension, according to a news released issued Monday.
Ascension is the nation’s largest non-profit and Catholic health system, while the Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) is an integrated system with one of the largest private medical group practices in the state.
“Ascension and MCHS have worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition that continues to provide the personalized, compassionate care that has been a hallmark of Saint Joseph’s Hospital for more than a century,” said Bernie Sherry, Ministry Market Executive, Ascension Wisconsin and Senior Vice President, Ascension Healthcare. “Ascension will continue to deliver faith-based personalized care to the communities we serve through our integrated system in Central and Northern Wisconsin.”

The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother began their ministry in greater Marshfield more than 125 years ago. MCHS also has deep roots in the region and has been committed to providing exceptional care for more than 100 years. Ascension and MCHS signed a memorandum of understanding in March 2016.
