Lloyd P. Lang
Lloyd P. Lang, 80, town of Cassel, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, with his family by his side.?He was born August 12, 1936 on the family farm in Cassel, the only son of Jacob and Mathilda (Stieber) Lang. On July 16, 1960, he married Antoinette “Toni” Kurtzweil at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Halder. She survives.?Lloyd was a 1954 graduate of the Marathon High School and was a lifelong resident of the town of Cassel, where he worked as a dairy and ginseng farmer.
He also enjoyed driving milk truck for several area cheese factories. Lloyd was a loving son, husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, neighbor and friend and will be remembered as a kind, patient, hardworking, social and easy going man, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 57 years, Toni Lang, Cassel; seven children, Bruce (Debora) Lang, Marathon, Beth Ann (Rick) Sandrini, Weston, Linda (Brian) Heise, Marathon, Mary Kay (Don) Hagenbucher, Marathon, Carolyn (Steve) Metz, Hazelhurst, Brenda (Wally) Skic, Merrill and Ann (Roger) Seubert, Marathon; 17 grandchildren, Kyle, Megan, Jordan, Kelsey, Chad, Tyler, Amanda, Nicole, Brianna, Jonathan, Jacob, Katie, Stephanie, Ethan, Remington, Cassidy and Spencer; and 11 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Taelyn, Jayden, Jaxon, Camden, Beckett, Zachary, Logan, Brayden, Cameron and Aubrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson, Hunter.?The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at St. Mary Catholic Church on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Mark E. Hartman
Mark E. Hartman, 61, Kronenwetter, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his home, due to natural causes.
He was born October 11, 1955 in Roscommon, Mich., son of the late Norval and Margaret (Henderson) Hartman. Mark was united in marriage to Susan (Lukensmeyer) on October 15, 1994. Together, they participated in a spiritual union on July 3, 2016.?For many years, Mark owned and operated Hartman Construction, working with construction and industrial concrete. ?He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. God came first in his life, Susan was second and his 1937 Chevy Coup came in third.
Survivors include, his loving wife and companion, Susan Hartman, Kronenwetter; one daughter, Samantha Hartman, Wausau; two grandchildren, Lily and Emmett; two sisters, Carol (Smitty) Smith, Davisburg, Mich. and Ellen (Rick) Unruh, Mountain View, Mo.; three nieces he treasured and thought of as his daughters, Jessica (William) King, Erin Lukensmeyer and Kelli (Dustin) Laffin; and a loving “Papa” to Jaxon, Hayden and Kali.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce.?Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1130 Field Road., Kronenwetter. Evelyn E. Winter
Evelyn E. Winter, 80, Schofield, died Friday, March 31, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1937 in Wausau, daughter of the late Aloysius and Anna (Lang) Schilling. On February 12, 1982, she married Glenn Winter in Wausau. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1999.?In 1974, Evelyn started working for Wausau Hospital, and earned her LPN Degree in 1980. She retired from Wausau Hospital many years later.
Survivors include, four children, Jane Tuttle, Wausau, Joyce Gregory, Wausau, Lynn Gregory, Schofield and Ralph (Linda Rein) Gregory, Wausau; three grandchildren, Tara French, Ashley Gregory and Johanna Gregory; one great-grandson, Angelo Pascarella; and two sisters, Marlene (Milton) Heinz and Darlene Kapitz, both of Wausau.
Besides her parents and husband, Glenn, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Laurie Gregory and Denise Gregory; and many siblings.?The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Frances King
Frances King, 99, Weston, died Thursday April 6, 2017 at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born October 24, 1917, in Ringle, daughter of the late John and Mary Ann (Glodowski) Landowski. On November 4, 1936, she married Henry King at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Callon. He preceded her in death December 12, 1985.
Frances was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church and made many desserts for various church functions. Cooking and baking were an art form for Frances and she was famous in her family for her white cookies, apple slices and rhubarb desserts. Another specialty was her chicken soup with homemade noodles. She treasured the time spent at family get togethers. Frances was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose.

Lt. Col. Arthur H. Kimbel
Lt. Col. Arthur (Art) Harvey Kimbel, 70, passed away at home on April 7, 2017. Art was born on March 14, 1947 in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Major Harvey and Hazel (Severson) Kimbel.
Art graduated from William Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin in 1965 and from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1970 with a major in Pharmacy. Art was a member of Kappa Psi Fraternity (Pharmacy) and ROTC (Distinguished Military Graduate). He was also an Officer in the Scabbard and Blade Military Honor Society, and he was commissioned as an Armored Officer in 1970.
In 1969, he married Judy (Thoemke, now Lombard) and they had two sons together, Brian Arthur and Brent Alan. They later divorced. On August 15, 1986 Art married DeAnne (Pudge) Robinson and joined her children Donald (Guy) Robinson, Dianna (Robinson) Reinardy, and Ryan Robinson with his, creating the Kimbel-Robinson family.
Art proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 32 years. He was the Chief of Pharmacy Services for the 44th General Hospital, Madison and the 452nd Combat Support Hospital, Milwaukee, WI. Art also was deployed overseas in 1991 during Desert Storm as Chief of Pharmacy at the largest overseas Military Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. He was a member of the VFW Burns Post #388 in Wausau, WI.
In addition to his military career, Art worked as a Pharmaceutical Medical Representative in the Wausau area beginning in 1973 for Eli Lilly & Co. and retired from Merck & Co. in 2003. Unable to stay retired, Art became a part-time Pharmacist at 29 Super Pharmacy in Weston, WI, retiring in the fall of 2016.
In 1993, Art and Pudge purchased a summer home on Clear Lake in Tomahawk, WI. They worked for almost two years renovating the home and then opened it as Kimbel’s Point of View B&B in 1995. They operated the B&B for 13 years, closing the business in 2008 and aptly renaming the property Camp Kimbel. They treasured the memories and friendships with those they made during this wonderful venture in their lives, and have continued to enjoy making memories with family and friends up there.
Through the years Art enjoyed spending time with his family, summers at the lake with his kids and grandkids (“Opa is the best noodle monster and pillow fighter in the world!”), making homemade waffles with ice cream (hey–it’s breakfast!), building campfires, shooting off fireworks on the 4th of July, being captain of the pontoon boat, cheering on the Packers and Badgers, and traveling the world. Art was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as both Elder and Deacon, and he volunteered for Mobile Meals, Aspirus Hospital, and the Humane Society of Marathon County. In his younger days, he enjoyed deer hunting and bowling (where he was a League President for 20 years!).
He is survived by his wife Pudge, their children, Guy (Shannon) Robinson, Ballwin, MO; Brian (fiancée Angi Ogiba) Kimbel, Elderon, WI; Dianna (Jerry) Reinardy, Wausau, WI; Brent Kimbel, Madison, WI; and Ryan (Tessa) Robinson, Salem, OR, and his grandchildren, Natalie and Luke Robinson, Maxwell and Zoe Reinardy, and David and Alex Kimbel who loved their “Opa” dearly.
He is also survived by his sister, Arline (Jim) Sadlon, Rockford, IL, and his nephews Gregg (Tracy) Sadlon, their children Evan and Tia, Arlington Hts., IL and Ky (Claudia) Sadlon and their children Colin and Riley, Elgin, IL.
A celebration of Art’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at First Presbyterian Church, Wausau, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:30am with the Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers officiating the service at 11:30am. A private interment for family will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
Art lived life to the fullest and we thank you all for being part of his happiness.
Dustin Robert Pochinski
Dustin Robert Pochinski, 22, of Wausau, passed away on April 7, 2017.
Dustin was born on Thanksgiving, November 24, 1994 to David and Sandra (Woytasik) Pochinski.
Dustin loved life and always lived each day to the fullest. He was a lover of music. Whether he was listening to his Rock N Roll, singing Karaoke or working on becoming a rap star, he surrounded himself with music every day. Anyone who knew Dustin knew he was a jokester. He could make light of any situation, even if it was in the most inappropriate times. He was an artist, an amazing writer and an entertainer. Most important to Dustin was his family and his wiener dog “Bane.”
He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dustin is survived by his parents, David and Sandra Pochinski of Wausau; brother, Kyle (Ashley Tuszowski) Pochinski of Birnamwood; maternal grandparents, Robert (Audrey) Woytasik; paternal grandpa, Clarence Pochinski; uncle Clarence (Jean) Pochinski; aunts, Angel (Matt) Brabender, Debbie and Laurie Woytasik; cousins, Jessica (Jon), Niki (Terri), Brad (Maeghan), Dilan, Devan and Jamie. Dustin is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and great friends and his best friend, Bane.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Virginia Pochinski.

James D. Seehafer
James “Jim” D. Seehafer,74, Wausau, died Wednesday, Apr 5th, 2017, in his home of natural causes.
James was born Nov. 29th, 1942, in Wausau, WI, and was a lifelong area resident. He worked as an industrial engineer at Greenheck Fan Corp. and Wausau Homes. He was also a former head of the local Society of Manufacturing Engineers and had a lifelong love of Wausau and the surrounding area.
Jim had a passion for the arts and regularly supported and attended many shows, art galleries, and performances in Wausau and abroad. He also volunteered both at the Marathon County library, and the Grand Theater.?Even as he got older, his mind stayed sharp. He never stopped thinking about how to make the world a better place. Jim supported many environmental and political groups and regularly attended discussions at the UW Center for Civic Engagement.?He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Brian and Jennifer Seehafer, Weston, two grandsons: Parker and Ethan Seehafer; and a special friend, Felicia High.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Eveline Seehafer.?Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Apr. 12th, at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams Street, Wausau. The Rev. Roger Zillman
Roger Walter Zillman, 88, of Wausau passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born November 9, 1928 in Wausau to the late Walter and Audrey (Michaels) Zillman. At a young age, Roger began a painting and decorating apprenticeship and continued that career well past his retirement from the American Can/James River Corporation, where he worked in shipping and eventually as the company painter. Roger met his future wife, Kathleen O’Driscoll, on a blind date and they were married on June 21, 1952, at St. James Catholic Church, Eau Claire. Roger and Kathleen then lived, worked, and raised their three children in Wausau.
Holding two jobs for most of his working life, Roger claimed “work is my hobby,” but he found time to plant, harvest, and share a bountiful garden, and to do numerous home improvement projects. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking and baking, music (especially polkas), and gatherings with his family. He loved and was especially proud of his grandchildren and their families, and had a special bond with his son-in-law. He will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, generosity, humility, his talent in his craft, and his endless supply of jokes and anecdotes.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen, daughter Barbara (Rod) Digman of Rib Mountain, two grandchildren, Luke (Cheryl Thomas) Digman of Rochester, MN, Amanda (Ben) Shuda and great grandsons Nolan and Bryce Shuda, Rib Mountain; sisters-in-law Virginia Zillman, Wausau, Vinessa Marlys Zillman, Wausau, Margaret (Chuck) Thorsen, Oconomowoc, Judy (Dave) Risch, Otsego, MN; brothers-in-law Jim (Ruth) O’Driscoll, Otsego, MN, Bob (Libby) O’Driscoll, Bozeman, MT, and Patrick (Sheri) O’Driscoll, Hartland; plus many nieces, nephews and their families. Roger was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas and David, two brothers, Jim and Wayne, an infant sister, and sister-in-law Delores (O’Driscoll) Martinek and her husband, Robert Martinek.

David Staszak
David Daniel Staszak, 83, Wausau, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Colonial Manor under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
David was born October 17, 1933 in Wausau to the late Michael and Martha Staszak. He married Susan Radke on July 22, 1972 and the couple was the proud parents of 4 children: Marsha, Dan, Jason and Roman. David worked hard to provide for his family and retired after 27 years with Wausau Paper in the Finishing Department.
David was a good man, devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He was very social and always appreciated time with family and friends. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking for family and playing his harmonica.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Susan; children, Marsha (Sonny) Mohr, Dan (Lori) Staszak and Jason (Tammy) Staszak; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Roman Staszak; 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Katherine Laffin
Katherine Jeanette Laffin, 83, Wausau, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at her residence.
Katherine was born May 24, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Eddie and Kathryn (Schlinger) Johnson. She married the love of her life, Brian Laffin, on November 3, 1951 in Aniwa, WI. The couple was blessed with three children: Tom, Susan and Candy.
Over the years, Katherine worked at a number of different retail stores in the Wausau area finally working at Don’s Country Oven before retiring.
Katherine was a good woman who dearly loved her family and never shied away from speaking her mind. She was an excellent cook and baker and put her outstanding seamstress skills to use making clothing for her children and doll clothes for her daughters. Katherine enjoyed playing the piano and played at Wausau Bible Church for many years. Katherine delighted in going to the casino and playing the slot machines.
Katherine is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Brian; children, Tom Laffin, Susan (Dale) Kole and Candy (Mark) Radandt; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Johnson and Conrad Johnson and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Laffin, and 5 siblings.
The funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Easton. Pastor Ryan Fehrmann will officiate. Evelyn Bell
Evelyn “Babe” Bell passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, April 4, 2017 at Aspirus Hospice House at the age of 98.
She was born on August 4, 1918 in Amherst to the late Andrew and Signe (Velund) Brathovde. She grew up on the family farm learning the value of hard work and closeness of family. Babe met her future husband, Alexander “Ralph” Bell and were married February 14, 1951 in Stevens Point. They moved to Wausau with Ralph working at Murray Machinery and Babe taking care of their home and four children, Joe, Judy, Linda and Ralph.
While the kids were in school, Babe worked at the Girl and Boy Scout offices. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crafting and traveling. Babe was a devout and founding member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Nicholas) Lucas of Las Vegas, NV, Judy (John) Carlton of Salem, SC, Joseph (Patti) Bell of Placitas, NM, six grandchildren, Alexander (Kirsten) Lucas, Jesse (Julie) Carlton, Jamie (Nate) Gundrum, Deanna (Joaquin) Encinias, Ralph (Julie) Bell, Stacey Bell, great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Judy Sorlie of Wausau and her special companion, Precious and numerous nieces and nephews.?Babe was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, her son, Ralph, two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Bell and Nicholas Jason Lucas and two brothers, Anton and Arvid Brathovde.

Lt. Col. Gordon L. “Horse” Scharnhorst
Retired Lt. Col. Gordon L. Scharnhorst, 85, died April 11, 2017 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin. Gordon was born December 30, 1931 in Hermann, Missouri to George and Lillian Scharnhorst.
He graduated from Hermann High School in 1949 and went on to Brayton School of Aeronautics where he received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1952, completing single engine jet fighter pilot training and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in March 1954. ?After a brief stationing at George Air Force Base (AFB), California, Gordon was transferred to Bitburg AFB, Germany in 1956 where he flew the F-100C Super Sabre. While conducting aerial gunnery practice at Wheelus AFB in Libya, he met the love of his life, Margaret “Maggie” Anderson. Gordon and Margaret were married in Germany on March 28, 1960.
At Bitburg AFB he flew combat alert missions on the NATO Defense Line against Soviet Block Forces in East Germany. In December 1957, Gordon was selected to fly Left Wing for the United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE) Aerial Demonstration Team (Skyblazers). He flew 107 official aerial demonstrations throughout Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and as far east as the capital city of Tehran in Iran. During his time with the Skyblazers, he was forced to eject from his F100 aircraft on August 7th, 1959 when the flight controls became disabled. While waiting for the search and rescue team, he shared a brandy with a local German farmer. After his ejection, Gordon considered August 7th as his second birthday and celebrated it accordingly.
In April 1960 Gordon was transferred to the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) at Edwards AFB, California. From May 1960 through November 1966 he had several duty assignments including Flight Test operations on the NATO German Air Force F104-G NATO aircraft, USAF MacDonald F-4C aircraft, and the Northrop F5 A/B aircraft. He also served as Chief of Quality Control for all aircraft and engine maintenance assigned to the military units at Edwards AFFTC. In 1965 he was selected to be the Chief of Maintenance on the Lockheed SR-71-YF12 Blackbird test program. For his distinguished performance, Gordon received his first Oak Leaf Cluster for meritorious service.
While at Edwards AFB, Gordon’s three children, Tim, Eric, and Kathy were born.In December 1966 Gordon was selected to attend the British Royal Air Force Staff College in Bracknell, England. After graduating from the Staff College in 1967, Gordon was assigned to RAF Coltishall as a Squadron Commander of Lightning Aircraft. ?In December 1969 he was transferred to Southeast Asia where he served as an Aircraft Maintenance Staff Officer, Military Assistance Command in Vietnam, and then as Chief of Maintenance for a Combat Support Group in Thailand. Gordon received his second Oak Leaf Cluster for his distinguished performance in Asia. ?In 1971 Gordon was assigned to the Pentagon Headquarters USAF Inspector General’s Office. He led a team that performed on-site inspections of aircraft maintenance and material functions, including management of USAF resources on a worldwide basis. For this distinguished performance, Gordon received his third Oak Leaf Cluster. He served in this position until August of 1971 when he was medically discharged from the Air Force.?After leaving the Air Force, Gordon was employed by the Wausau School District in Wisconsin where he served as the Attendance Director of Wausau East High School and then as the Supervisor of the Buildings and Grounds complex consisting of 15 different schools.
He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hermann, Missouri and a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans, Wausau, Wisconsin. He was a 41-year member of the American Legion Post 10, Wausau, Wisconsin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, and golf when physically able. In later years he especially enjoyed meeting with friends at the Hiawatha lounge. ?Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian Scharnhorst, and his beloved wife Margaret.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Tim (Lois) Scharnhorst, Eric (Karen) Scharnhorst, and Kathy (Joe) MacDonald. ?A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 15th at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home, 948 Grand Avenue, Schofield, WI 54476.

Marlys Mae Ellenbecker
Marlys Ellenbecker, 68, of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the UW Hospital in Madison.
Marlys was born on April 10, 1948, to Ervin and Olga (Yessa) Gruening, in Wausau. She married Bernell Ellenbecker on October 16, 2010.?Marlys will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Marlys loved traveling with Bernell, working on puzzles, having friends over for an afternoon of games or cards and an occasional jaunt to the casino. She was an avid Packers, Brewers and country music fan.
She is survived by her husband, Bernell Ellenbecker, one son Todd (Kathy) Freiberg, Yorkville, IL; one daughter, Tina (Charles) Franks, Katy, TX; six grandchildren, two sisters, Sandy (Larry) Kath, Appleton; Connie (Mark) Knapp, Kronenwetter; one brother, Cal (Ruby) Gruening, IL, one step son Steve (Laura) Ellenbecker, Rothschild and many other family members.
Marlys was preceded in death by her father, mother and sisters Ione Menne and Cindy Carlson.

Chester Stanley Kluck
Chester Stanley Kluck, age 88, went to be with our Lord on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017 surrounded by loved ones at home.
He was born November 13, 1928 to Harry and Francis (Osowski) Kluck.
Chester is survived by the love of his life for 66 years, Elvera (Muto) Kluck; six children Gary (Tamera) Kluck, Debra (Mark) Oksiuta, Barbara Maria Kluck, Karen (Mark) Mathison, Kevin (Angela) Kluck, Brian (Ann) Kluck; and son-in-law Bill Chesbrough, husband of Patricia. Chester had five siblings: Lawrence (Lynette) Kluck, Leonard (Rita) Kluck, Stanley Kluck, Betty (Jack) Crawford, and Ceil (Ed) Novak as well as three step-siblings Harold (Carol) Kluck, Clarence (Kathy) Kluck, and Maxine Kudronowicz.
A proud veteran, Chester served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His hard work ethic resulted in a successful business, Kluck Concrete, servicing the state of Wisconsin for 38 years. He installed many drive ways and sidewalks in the Stevens Point area with his sons Wayne, Gary, Kevin, and Brian.?Chester loved his wife and children; they were his #1 priority. He made sure he provided for them. He was jokester who always brought laughter to conversations. He truly enjoyed family, friends, and people that he met. He was honest, loyal, sincere, giving, loving, and respectful. He was a Christian man who stated in his last days that God was calling him home.?Chester loved sports. He was a true SPASH Panther fan, cheering them on for 45 years. He watched the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and other sports. In his younger days, he played baseball, hunted, fished, bowled, golfed, took trips to Thomson’s Resort, and trips out West to see his children. Elvera and Chet also enjoyed going to the casinos to meet with friends. He loved ma-ma’s home cooking and her homemade bread.
Grandpa Chet had 18 grandchildren: Autumn, Cole, Kristin, Katie, Rachel, Andrea, Tammy, Brenda, Patty, Juliana, Jacob, Shalie, Justin, Aubrey, Aron, Alice, Mary, and Jodie. Grandpa Chet had 11 great-grandchildren: Bryce, Braylon, Luke, Olivia, Alexandra, Tristin, Dominic, Isaac, Owen, Paisley Jane, and Amadeus.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, son Wayne Kluck, and daughter Patricia Chesbrough. He is further survived by his extended family and his lifelong friends.

John “Jack” Desnoyers
John “Jack” Desnoyers 83 Weston passed away at Lake View Heights on April 8, 2017.
He was born September 1, 1933 in Wausau, the son of Donald and Ruth (Olson) Desnoyers. He married Barbara Davis on October 10, 1959. Jack retired from GTE in 1994. He was also a Korean War Veteran.He enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs and was an avid Packer fan, but most of all he enjoyed watching his grandson’s sporting events.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of 58 years, his two daughters Cheryl (Michael) Ullenbrauck, Anne (Bruce) Pecha four grandsons, Chad Ullenbrauck, Ryan (Megan) Ullenbrauck, Zachary and Lucas Pecha and one great grandson Tanner Ullenbrauck. He is further survived by one cousin Dorothy Sindelar. A private memorial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Lake View Heights for their compassionate care given to Jack.
Jennifer J. Stommel Cournoyer
Jennifer J. Stommel Cournoyer, age 44, of Vesper, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2017 at St Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Jennifer was born Febuary 2, 1973 to the late Gene R. Stommel and Susan M. (Engebretson) Stommel in Sault St Marie, MI. The family moved to Rudolph, WI in 1976. She attended Stevens Point public schools and graduated from high School in 1991.
Jennifer married the love of her life Chad Cournoyer on June 25, 2005, at the Lions Park in Rudolph WI. Jennifer grew up on dairy farm and throughout her childhood she participated in 4-H where she enjoyed showing cattle at the County and State fairs. She was a member of Girl Scouts and Wizards Jump Rope Program through Kennedy School in Junction City. Jennifer worked at Trendsetters and Perkins in her teenage years.
In 1995 she was in an auto accident leaving her a quadriplegic. She went on to become Miss Wheelchair Wisconsin in 1995, and a participant in Miss America Wheelchair pageant. She was a great advocate and speaker about seat belt safety to many schools and Universities and was sponsored by Joerns Health care. She graduated from The University of Wisconsin in 2004.
Jennifer enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether on the phone, out shopping or visiting. She held a special place in her heart for all the children who graced her life. Jennifer was very proud to be Godmother to Dustin Bowholtz, Meadow Schroer, Bailey Feist, and Liberty Bungert.
She is survived by her husband Chad Cournoyer, Companion dog Rocky, Mother Susan Stommel, Grandmother Patricia Stommel, Sister Robyn (Matt) Bowholtz, Brother Eric (Amanda) Stommel, Stepmother Elizabeth Stommel, Stepsisters Julie (Mike) Korslin, Marsha (Jim) Feist, Renee (Josh) Firkus, Heidi (Richard) Blair, 8 Nephews, 5 Nieces and 1 Great Nephew.
She was preceded in death by her Father Gene R Stommel, Niece Cora Stommel, Grandfathers, Eugene Stommel and Melvin Engebretson, and Grandmother Phyllis Engebretson. ?A Celebration of life will be held at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home (formerly Higgins Funeral Home) at 631 E. Grand Ave, Wisconsin Rapids 54494 on April, 11th 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
