I got off the couch…and we went streaking

Let me explain. I am writing my column this week from beautiful Nashville, TN. I am down here for a long weekend. As I and a buddy of mine road-tripped our way the twelve-plus hours down to Nashville, (thanks for the two hour delay Chicago…jerks!) we listened to the game.

Amazingly, the Brewers are on a bona fide three-game winning streak. This is a streak by any definition. I was excited when the Brewers were able to win back-to-back games. I almost prematurely called it a streak. I know many people would have then chastised me for calling it a “streak”. I decided to bide my time. I needed a theme for this week’s column. For the stars to align correctly, I was in need of a win by the Brewers.

The game is so much easier if you have great starting pitching. That coupled with timely hitting and a not-so-good opponent. That is a recipe for VICTORY!

With their win Friday night, the Brewers moved above .500 for the first time in some 334 games!

Last weekend was a tremendous golf weekend. The Masters had an epic finish. Sergio Garcia donned the green jacket the year after defeating Justin Rose on the first playoff hole.

The week started with a very somber, but fitting tribute to “The King”, Arnold Palmer. The weather on the first two days of the tournament made for a very difficult course. The leaderboard showed it; with the exception of Charley Hoffman. Hoffman later fell back to the pack.

The weather softened on Saturday and Sunday. It made for the perfect stage for shot makers to do what they do best; make shots. Golf junkies like me and the “not-even-a-casual-fan” were fixed to the drama that played out over the back nine on Sunday.

About the author

Keith Kubisiak is a self-proclaimed sports junkie. He will have an opinion with a heavy dose of snark, and hopefully a bit of humor, on everything from local sports to the pros. Kubisiak is a lifelong Wisconsin resident, with the exception of one year living just outside of Cleveland that he still says is the worst winter of his life.

The author is a huge fan of the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. Even though he is not a big fan of the NBA, the Bucks are very slowly starting to grow on him (it’s about time.) He played youth hockey for nine years with aspirations to play Division 1 hockey, but lacked two things on his quest: ability and talent, shortcomings which, sadly, are also evident in his golf game. His passion for sports will be very apparent as you read “My View…From the Couch.” Reach Keith at [email protected]. On Twitter as @keithkubi.
