WAUSAU – A Rib Mountain man convicted of stabbing two coworkers at a local nail salon will spend nearly 13 years in prison and will pay more than $35,000 in restitution, court records show.
Doan Nguyen, 32, was convicted in November in Marathon County Circuit Court on two felony charges of first degree reckless injury and a single count of first degree recklessly endangering safety. He was originally charged in February 2015 with attempted homicide, a charge that was reduced as part of a plea agreement. A charge of aggravated battery was also dismissed, court records show.
Police said Nguyen on Feb. 2, 2015 stabbed the two men at Best Nails in Rib Mountain over a work-related dispute. Both men survived the attack.
Nguyen is from Vietnam and had just begun working at the salon when the incident happened, according to the complaint.
Marathon County Circuit Judge Greg Strasser on Tuesday sentenced Nguyen to 15 years in prison but allowed 808 days credit for time served. Nguyen will also undergo a psychiatric evaluation and will spend an additional 15 years on extended supervision after his release, court records show.
