TOWN OF KNOWLTON – Marathon County Sheriff’s deputies were kept busy Friday afternoon when two separate crashes happened within minutes of each other on I-39 near Knowlton.
The first crash was reported just after 3 p.m. when a trailer carrying a skid steer overturned, blocking one lane of traffic, police said. While officers were clearing the crash scene a second three-vehicle crash happened north of the first crash. Both crashes happened in the southbound lanes of the highway.
One passenger in the second crash had minor injuries, police said.
Traffic was reduced to a single lane for about two hours and the highway reopened at 5:18 p.m.
