TOWN OF BIRCH — One man is dead and another man is injured following a single-vehicle crash in the town of BIrch, according to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department news release.
The crash, on Hwy. J., was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
When deputies arrived at the crash site, they discovered a vehicle had left the roadway, crashing into a power pole and several trees, according to the release. The driver, a 21-year-old Manitowoc man, died at the scene of the crash; his passenger, a 21-year-old Gleason man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries police described as non life-threatening.
Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash, police said. No names have yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
