Work to repair pavement along WIS 29 between Business 51 (Rothschild) and Marathon County J (Weston) is scheduled to begin May 8.

The public is invited to attend a construction information meeting on May 23 from 5  p.m. to 6 p.m. at Schofield City Hall, 200 Park St., Schofield. Area residents, business owners and commuters are encouraged to attend and learn more about the planned construction activities and traffic impacts.

Residents who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (711).

American Asphalt is the prime contractor for the $3.8 million project. Improvements include:

  • Concrete pavement and joint repairs
  • Removal and replacement of asphalt shoulders
  • Ramp gate installation at the interchanges with County X and County J

Motorists can expect lane closures and speed limit reductions on WIS 29. Some short-term interchange ramp closures will also be necessary at County X and County J.

All work is scheduled for completion in September. The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions and construction status.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
