WAUSAU – One person is in custody after leading police on a chase through the city.

The chain of events began just before midnight on Saturday when a Wausau Police officer saw a vehicle crash near the intersection of E. Wausau Avenue and North Fifth Street, according to a department Facebook post. The driver fled, leading officers on a chase before the suspect was stopped and arrested.

Police said the vehicle was stolen.

The driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been publicly identified, was taken to the Marathon County Jail on a number of charges, according to police. No injuries have been reported.

One man is expected to appear today in Marathon County Circuit Court on felony charges of fleeing an officer, operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, manufacturing or delivering marijuana, and misdemeanor OWI charges, according to jail reports.
