All artists, 18 years of age or older and residing in the United States, are encouraged to enter the first annual National Juried Art Exhibition sponsored by the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art (WMOCA). Selected artists’ works will be on exhibit for the public October 6 through December 29.

“This is an open-theme exhibit and will become an annual event,” said David Hummer, executive director of WMOCA. “Any artists working in any medium, with the exception of video and computer generated work are encouraged to enter online at www.wmoca.org.”

Alyssa Monks, a Master of Contemporary Realism and Juror for the WMOCA show, will announce the “Best of Show” artist and recipient of $10,000 in Wausau on October 7. Monks sits on the Board of Trustees for the New York Academy of Art and was just recognized as one of the top 30 most influential female artists of our lifetime. Her works are exhibited and collected internationally.

Entries must be registered and submitted before midnight, August 18, 2017. Details for the competition are posted on the new website of the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art which plans to open its doors this fall at 309 McClellan Street, Wausau, site of the historic Wausau Club. WMOCA brings contemporary art to north central Wisconsin by featuring the works of regional, national and international artists through rotating exhibits and public education programs.
