The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is conducting a public meeting to discuss this year’s construction on Hwy. 29 between Bus. Hwy. 51 in Rothschild and Hwy. Q in Marathon County. Crews are repairing the concrete pavement and improving the highway shoulders.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Schofield City Hall, 200 Park Street. Adjacent property and business owners are encouraged to attend.

The objective of the meeting is to discuss this year’s construction activities and how they will impact WIS 29 traffic, including:

  • Potential nighttime closures of WIS 29 between Business 51 and County Y. Traffic would be detoured via WIS 49, WIS 153, and I-39.
  • Short-term ramp closures at the County X and County J interchanges.

Work began May 8 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2017. All construction-related traffic impacts are subject to change and are dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction status.
