Weston– When SPASH and D.C. Everest met up on Tuesday afternoon, it was an innocuous enough start to a Wisconsin Valley Conference softball game.

It was 4:30 p.m., sunny and about 82 degrees.  At game time, the charge on my cell phone stood at 87%.

By the time the game was done, the temperature had dropped about ten degrees, the streetlamps were on and my phone’s battery was barely hanging on at 8%.
