TOWN OF STETTIN — Eastbound Hwy. 29 traffic to Hwy. 51 is reduced to a single lane to allow for cleanup after a semi tractor trailer carrying 34 cattle overturned, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash was reported just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, police said. As of Wednesday morning, all cattle survived the crash. There is no word on whether the driver was injured.

Traffic along Hwy. 29 eastbound to Hwy. 51 southbound was rerouted for hours while the Marathon County Highway Department transferred the cattle to a different trailer, according to a news release.

The single lane closure is expected to continue throughout the day, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The ramp reopened at 8:30 a.m.

Crews are repairing beam guard that was damaged during this morning’s incident. The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.
