WAUSAU — A 26-year-old man convicted in 2010 of sexually assaulting a child has reached the end of his sentence and will be released June 6 in Wausau, according to a Wausau Police Department release.
Upon his release, Adam Eckart will be placed in transitional housing near the Marathon County Courthouse and will be subject to the Department of Corrections GPS monitoring systems, police said. Eckart will initially be on a highly restricted schedule that will include monitored time out in the community for work and treatment.
In addition to second degree sexual assault of a child, Eckart was also convicted of exposing a child to harmful materials, according to the release.
Eckart is also facing separate felony charges of battery or threat to a judge and battery or threat to a witness, court records show. Those charges were filed April 10 in Marathon County Circuit Court. A court date for Eckart on the new charges has not yet been set.
By state law, sex offenders who serve their sentences are required to be released into the county in which they were convicted.
