The Central Wisconsin Water Ski Show Team kicks off its 20th season this weekend in Wausau.

“We consider all the families and individuals on our team our second family, so a family reunion theme seemed fitting for us this year,” said show director Janelle Gokey. “You can expect to hear humorous announcers, toe tapping music, and see skiers of all ages in dazzling costumes all combined to provide free entertainment for you and your family.”

This year, about 40 skiers and 20 non-skiing volunteers will put on 28 shows. Performers range in age from 5 to 56 years old, Gokey said.

A 4th of July show is planned for 5 p.m. at Bullheads Bar & Grill in Stevens Point, and the group also has a show on Mayflower Lake in Birnamwood on Saturday, July 8 at 6 p.m. The group’s last show is on Labor Day at 5:30 p.m. after the Wausau Labor Day parade.

Bleacher seating is provided for the Wausau shows, though people are welcome to bring their own chair or blanket to sit on. No bleachers are available at the Lake Du Bay  performances. Concessions are sold at both locations.
