WAUSAU — Just in time for soaring high temperatures, all three Wausau pools will open this weekend.
Schulenberg Pool, 1533 Summit Drive, is the last of three pools to be renovated and will kick off the season with a grand opening on Saturday. The public is invited to a ribbon cutting at 12:30 p.m., followed by open swim. There will be no charge for swimming at Schulenburg Pool that day. The new pool is the only one of the three to have a lap lane included in the design.
Kaiser Pool, next to Thom Field at 900 E. Bridge Street in Wausau, will open Saturday at 1 p.m.
Kaiser was the first of the city’s three pools to be renovated, a multi-phase project that transformed the former swimming holes to sophisticated play areas with water slides, concessions and other popular features.
The opening of Memorial Pool, 505 Memorial Park Road, was initially delayed until Monday due to a mechanical issue, parks officials said. But parks officials on Friday said they were able to fix the issue in time to open the pool on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Memorial was redesigned two years ago and opened to much fanfare last summer. The pool, at Memorial Park, sits on the city’s southeast side.
The pools are opening just as weather forecasts are calling for highs near 90 from Saturday until Tuesday. Pools are open from 1 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. daily.
