TOMAHAWK — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal boating accident that took place Saturday afternoon on the Wisconsin River in the City of Tomahawk, according to a news release. 

The incident took place near the North Fourth Street Bridge when a man who was a passenger in a boat, went into the water to assist when the boat became disabled, police said. While he was assisting he was struck by that boat.  

The investigation into the matter is continuing. No names have yet been released. 

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. They are being assisted by the Tomahawk Police Department, Tomahawk Fire Department, Tomahawk EMS and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office.

More information will likely be released on Sunday.
