CRANDON — An ATV crash in Forest County killed an 18-year-old Crandon man late Thursday afternoon on Jageer Road, according to WJFW-TV 12.

Family members confirmed to reporter Ben Meyer that Matthew Phillips died in the two-ATV crash.

Phillips leaves behind a one-year-old daughter, Meyer reports.

DNR Warden Supervisor Dave Walz said the crash happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon on Jaeger Road, which is just east of Crandon.

Phillips’ ATV hit another ATV with with a 16-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger which was traveling the opposite direction, authorities said. Those two teens were injured, police said.

Walz said speed was a determining factor in the crash, and none of the three people were wearing helmets. The two surviving teenagers continue to get medical treatment as of Friday morning according to the WJFW report.

A family member told Meyer that plans for Phillips’ funeral services will be made in the next few days. Those services will likely be at the Forest County Potawatomi Cultural Center in Crandon.
