Robert “Bob” Rybarczyk
Robert “Bob” Rybarczyk, 79, of Schofield, passed away on July 7, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Bob was born in Wausau on February 20, 1938 to the late Henry and Helen (Letarski) Rybarczyk. He married the love of his life Gloria Oleson on June 24, 1961 in Brown Deer, Wisconsin.
Bob served his Country honorably in the United States Army. He enjoyed golfing, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino. He was a member of the Optimist Club, Kiwanis Golden K Club, and served as president for the South Area Business Association. Bob was president of the Rib Mountain Metro Sewage District and was very active in politics; running twice for a seat in the State Senate.
Bob was best known in the community for his involvement in real-estate. He founded Coldwell Banker Action in 1970. He was president of the Wausau Board of Realtors, served on the Wisconsin real-estate examining board, and was named realtor of the year. Bob founded and taught real-estate classes, as well as started a property management company that he ran until the time of his death.
Bob was best known by those who knew and loved him for his great sense of humor and one liners and his dedication to his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria; his son, Robert (Kris) and daughter, Dawn (David); grandchildren, Jake, Adam, Chad and Josie. He is further survived by his brother’s, Ron (Mary) and Gary as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 903 Third Street, Wausau. The Rev. McIntosh will officiate. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
A celebration of Bob’s life will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the City Grill and Bistro, 203 Jefferson Street, Wausau.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s honor to Bridge Community Health Clinic or the Neighbors Place.
Robert Orville Wunsch
Robert Orville Wunsch, age 88 of Weston passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Aspirus Hospice House on June 30, 2017. He was born to Bernard and Clara (Hayes) Wunsch on April 30, 1929.
Bob married Diane (Held) Wunsch on October 21, 1977 in Stevens Point, WI. He worked for JI Case (Drott) until his retirement in 1999. Bob enjoyed watching football, baseball, the history channel and spending time with his family and friends. He loved making chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate for his grandchildren. Bob was an Army Veteran, serving during WWII.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Diane; son Todd (Lori) Wunsch; daughter Lisa (Carrol) Pittsley Jr; grandchildren, Jason (Anne) Wunsch; Chandra (Adam) Malzahn; Angela Wunsch; Catherine (Rick) Pergolski; Alesha (fiancé Tyler Kraemer) Pittsley, great grandchildren Maddi and AJ Wunsch; Makayla and Jaden Malzahn; Brianna and JayR Pergolski, Christian Wunsch and Alexis Wunsch, brothers in law Jerry (Janice) Held; Alan (Kathy) Held, sister in law Phyllis (Terry) Backens, special nieces and nephews, many family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Weston on July 6, 2017 at 11 am. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service. Pastor Lance Hoelscher will officiate. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven, Mosinee, WI.
Bob is preceded in death by sons Gary and Jay, daughter Sheryl, grandson David Wunsch, six brothers and five sisters.

Brenda Irene Byron Janke
Brenda Irene Byron Janke, 58, Wausau, passed on Thursday, July 6, 2017, in Crandon, Wisconsin.
She was born November 3, 1958, in Marquette, Michigan, daughter of William and Ida (Haanpa) Byron. On January 3, 1987, she married James Janke at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Brenda graduated from Waupun High School in 1977. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point receiving her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Home Economics Education.
For a number of years, Brenda served Central Wisconsin as the Family Living Agent with the University of Wisconsin – Extension, a position she enjoyed greatly. In her free time, her talents were expressed through crafting, sewing and knitting. Through her passion for reading, she met Jim at the Janke Book Store and that chapter of her life was written. Brenda also appreciated the fine arts and was a frequent patron of the Grand Theater. Gardening, singing, and spending time up north at the family cabins were favorite pastimes for her as well.
Survivors include her parents, William and Ida Byron, Waupun, WI, her husband, James Janke, Wausau, two daughters, Lana Janke, Pensacola, FL, Emma (Cody Buckli) Janke, Wausau, two brothers, Kraig (Kathy) Byron, Oregon, WI, and their children, Colin and Chloe; Lance (Alexia) Byron, Costa Rica, two sisters-in-law, Jane (David) Johnson, Wausau and their daughter, Sarah Johnson; Anne (Terry) Huddleston, Franklin, TN, and their family, Kate (Jonathan) Douillard and their son, Hudson, Elizabeth Huddleston and Mary Huddleston. Brenda was preceded in death by her in-laws, John and Delores Janke. Brenda’s new puppy, Finn, survives.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all of Brenda’s friends, including her AA family, for their love and support through the years.
For many years Susie and her first husband Ervin were dairy/ginseng farmers in the town of Rib Falls. She was a proud homemaker who enjoyed sewing, canning, playing cards and entertaining many guests. She and Ervin loved going on many snowmobile outings together and vacationing throughout the continental US and Europe. She was proud that on one of the trips she won a Lincoln Town car. She had a passion for flowers and loved spending countless hours tending to her many flower beds on the farm and at her later home with John. She and John loved Polka and country music dancing and could be seen at many church picnics and local events. They also traveled to many different destinations together. Susie and John loved picking raspberries and strawberries together and sharing them with family. Susie also loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to every birthday party. Holidays were special, bringing family and friends together. She truly loved playing dominos with the young and the old. It was a game she and John played nightly. As she would always say “it keeps your mind sharp!” She was previously a member of the local Homemakers club and a member of the Edgar Gas and Steam Engine Club.
Survivors include her husband, John Burish, Marathon, her two children, Pamela (Thomas) Balz, Marathon, Rick (Pam) Stencil, Edgar, John’s daughter, Kris Burish and her son, Andrew, Marathon, her grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Balz, Wausau, Becky (Chad) Draxler, Lantana, Texas, Michael (Amanda) Balz, Marathon. Sara (fiancé Matthew Wonkovich) Stencil, Washington, D.C., Steven (fiancé Stephanie Fiess) Stencil, Edgar, Stacey Stencil, Edgar, her great grandchildren, Alison, Jocelyn and Vivian Draxler and Makayla, Erica and Keira Balz. Susie is further survived by her siblings, her twin sister, Ann Knoll, Marshfield, Arlene (Wally) Stencil, Edgar, Pat (Floyd) Hamus, Marshfield, Benny (Rhonda) Knoll, Stratford and Allie (Diane) Knoll, Stratford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and her first husband Ervin she was preceded in death by her siblings, Eddie, Clem and Jerry Knoll, Annette Raschke and an infant brother, Edwin.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Thomas Huff will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Mike was an avid fisherman and had many fond memories of fishing with his son, Russ. After his retirement, Mike concentrated on being a single parent, raising his two daughters, Mara and Michelle. He was an active volunteer at Riverview Elementary during his daughters’ school years. Mike enjoyed golfing at the American Legion, now Tribute Golf Course, scoring a hole in one in 1992! He also loved spending time bowling, gardening, woodworking and traveling.
Survivors include his son Russ (JoAnn) Hollman; two daughters, Mara Hollman and Michelle Hollman Palmer; six grandchildren, Spencer, Dalton, Ethan, Seth (Taralea) Hollman, Shari (Matt) Palmeri and Shawn (Matt) Schliewe; brother, Leonard (Barbara) Hollman; sister, Virginia “Ginger” Dennison; and two foster sisters, Cindy Parmer and Kathy (Jim) Krueger. He was also preceded in death by the mother of his son, also mother of his daughters; his brothers, Milton and Gerald; and his step-father, Ervin Schmutzler.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Chaplain Wayne Schwanke will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Veteran Honors will be given by the American Legion- Honor Guard Post 10, Wausau. She was born January 15, 1923 in Schofield, daughter of the late Rufus and Adelia (Wendorf) Lashua. On November 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Rainville. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1977.
Ione was a homemaker and loving mother to nine children. She was a lifetime member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a member of The Secular Order of the Franciscans and Wausau Homemakers. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed collecting recipes and was an excellent cook.
Survivors include, six children, Charlotte (William) Bailey, Wausau, Barbara (Mike) Van Rixel, Tomahawk, Judith Rainville, Wausau, Charles (Clara) Rainville, Tulsa, Okla., Mary (Jim) Cooper, Arkansas and Jane Rainville, Merrill; one daughter-in-law, Tina Rainville, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by three children, Susan Rainville, Patricia Drury and Michael Rainville; her only sister, Bernice Rainville; and one son-in-law, Robert Drury.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Msgr. Rev. Mark Pierce will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.

Jim was born on November, 1, 1949 in Superior, Wisconsin, the third of eight children born to Orville and Margaret (McCuskey) Nikstad. He grew up on the family farm in Foxboro, Wisconsin. Jim attended Patzau Elementary School, went to 9th grade at Central High School and graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1968. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1972 with a mathematics major and physics minor. He served in the US Army from 1972-1974 as a funds clerk for the chaplain at Fort Lee, Virginia. Jim received his master’s in statistics from Marquette University in 1976. Through his hard work, education altered the course of Jim’s life and he generously and enthusiastically supported the academic progress of both family members and friends and many academic institutions. He often spoke genuinely to young people about the transformative power of education in his life.
In 1976, Jim married his loving wife, Emalyn Tucker, at St. William’s Catholic Church in Foxboro, Wisconsin. They recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on June 26, 2017. Jim was a devoted husband and kind father to Laura (1978), Paul (1982) and Bethany (1986). He enjoyed supporting and coaching his children in academics, sports, scouts, and music. Jim instilled values of honesty, responsibility and open-mindedness in his children. He was a father to the family’s exchange student, Florian Neutze of Germany, and attended his wedding in Berlin in 2016. He was a caring son-in-law to Emalyn’s mom. Jim wholeheartedly welcomed his son-in-law, Daniel Tyx and daughter-in-law, Erica Judd to the family, both in 2007. Jim cherished his three grandchildren and loved to read and sing with them.
Jim worked his entire 33 year career at Wausau Insurance/Liberty Mutual as an actuary. He passed all 10 actuarial exams to become a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and Member American Academy of Actuaries. He retired in June of 2009. Jim found great purpose in his work, using his intelligence, logic and analytical skill to work with a team to solve problems. Jim cultivated many lifelong friendships at Wausau Insurance.
Jim gave generously, both financially and with his time, to the Wausau community. He was a charter and continuous member of the United Way Summit League since 1987, a supporter of the YMCA, the Performing Arts Foundation and many other organizations. Jim enjoyed volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Much of Jim’s service was through his church, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church of Wausau, of which he was a member for 39 years. Over the years, he served as Corporate Treasurer, Finance
Council Chair and the chairman of the Treasure Sale for 8 years. Jim lived his faith by using his gifts and training in service to others. He led with wisdom and by valuing the voices and opinions of his fellow parishioners. Jim was honored to work with Helping Hands on humanitarian trips to both Jamaica and Kenya. Jim loved music, sang with great joy and shared this love of music with his family. He sang in the men’s choir in college, with the Wausau Insurance Music Society, and at St. Matt’s. Jim loved to exercise and over his life played baseball, pickleball, and golf, including two holes-in-one. He loved to camp, hike, and bike with Emalyn. He enjoyed hunting with his family and loved to watch wildlife.
Jim was an avid duplicate bridge player and was Life Master with 1225 master points. He was the Wisconsin Upper Michigan Bridge Association player of the year in his division in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. He served the bridge community as the treasurer of WUMBA for 6 years. Wherever he traveled, he and Emalyn would find a bridge game, including games in South Texas, Alaska and Edinburgh, Scotland. In their retirement, Jim and Emalyn taught bridge lessons and shared their love and knowledge of the game with numerous students. As one student said, they not only learned to play bridge, but found a new circle of friends.
Jim is survived by his spouse, Emalyn Nikstad, his three children ,Laura Nikstad (Daniel Tyx) of McAllen, Texas, Paul Nikstad (Erica) of Deephaven, Minnesota and Bethany Nikstad of St. Louis, Missouri, his three grandchildren, Benjamin (Byrdie) Tyx, Ana Gloria Tyx and Judd Paul Nikstad, his siblings and their spouses, Judy Nikstad, Richard Nikstad (Bonnie), Jane Olson (James), Ron Nikstad (Tracy), Gerald Nikstad (Deborah) and Sandy Rutherford, his mother-in-law, Leona Tucker and brother-in-law Richard Tucker (Bonita), his aunts, Carol (Nikstad) Strohman, Joan Nikstad, Audrey McCuskey, Barbara McCuskey and Anna (McCuskey) Strand, an uncle Harry (Carol) McCuskey and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Margaret Nikstad, his brother, Edward Nikstad, his sister, Barbara Obester and his father-in-law, Joseph Tucker.

The family also wishes to extend our warmest thanks to all of Jim’s nurses, CNAs, physical therapists and hospice staff who showed such kindness and loving care to him. Jim’s funeral will take place at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Monday, July 10 at 11:00 am with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. He will be buried at Holyoke Cemetery, Holyoke, Minnesota on Wednesday, July 12 at 1:00 pm, where five generations of his family are buried. He was born in Wausau on December 18, 1939, to the late Herbert and Leona (Barthels) Baumann. Donald grew up on the family farm and attended school in the town of Texas. At the early age of 16 he decided to go and work at the Sunset Cheese Factory. By the time he turned 18 he had a milk route that he had purchased and was working. Donald was a hard worker and dedicated to his route, and he retired after many years of service at the age of 75. As a young man he met a girl from the city, Barbara Grob, and they were married in Wausau on October 21, 1961. Together they bought the family farm and continued farming until 2006.
Donald loved his family and they were a very important part of his life. He was a very kind and gentle man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He also enjoyed being a member of the card club, casino trips, and league bowling for many years. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Wausau, where he was an usher and also served on many committees.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Lori (Jeff) Braatz, Donna Baumann, and Scott (Tonya) Baumann, all of Wausau; grandchildren, Josh Braatz, Jessica (Jeff) Geurink, Seth (Allie) Baumann, Sean Baumann, and Max Baumann; three great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Wallace) Hohn of Sheboygan; brothers-in-law, Edward Hahn of Mosinee and Jim (Teri) Grob of Appleton; sister-in-law, Suzanne Grob of Wausau; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Leona; and sister, Sharon Hahn.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7505 North 33rd St, Wausau, with Rev. Scott Holoubek officiating. Joan was born October 31, 1931 in Wausau to the late Walter and Mildred (Baerwald) Gappa. She attended Wausau High School prior to marrying the love of her life, Donald “Buck” Fritz on August 24, 1949 in Red Wing, MN. The family was blessed with four children: Darrell, Duane, David and Diane. Joan and Buck celebrated 48 years together prior to his death on February 9, 1998.
Joan was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to whom family was always chief importance. Her home was always open to all her family and their friends and Joan happily babysat all of the grandchildren and many more neighborhood kids. Joan’s wonderful cooking and insistence on clean plates always left the family well fed. At times, Joan could be stubborn and stern, but she was always very loving and had a wonderful sense of humor. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling and in the later years Joan went on many casino trips. Throughout her life, Joan had a great love of animals, especially her dogs. She was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club and avid fan of the Green Bay Packers.
Joan is survived by her loving children, Darrell (Peggy) Fritz of Rothschild, Duane (Judy) Fritz of Green Bay, David (Sharon) Fritz of Wausau and Diane (George) Poulos of Wausau; grandchildren, Derek Fritz, Kevin Hanson, Tracy (Dan) Heath, Hope (David) Linke, Ron (Michelle) Schlueter, David Jr. (Shelly) Fritz, Erin Fritz, Nick (Katie) Poulos, Amber Poulos, Chris (Becca) Poulos; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Tyler Linke; and brothers, Warren and Gerald “Jerry” Gappa.

Thomas Slomske
Tom was born in Wausau to the late Bernard and Violet (Westphal) Slomske. Even though Tom was handicap since birth, he brought much joy and love to his family and friends. Whether it was eating his favorite food (a hot dog and Coke), attending Packer games, taking care of the family pets, traveling with his family or petting the animals at the County Fair, Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.
He is survived by his two sisters, Kathryn and Virginia Slomske, both of Wausau.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Charles worked at Consolidated Paper Mill for 36 years. He married his loving wife Karma on February 14, 1992 and Charles was the 5th generation to live with his family on the Calkins’ family farm. It was there he developed his love of the garden and also ran his produce business for more than 20 years called Sandy Land Produce. There wasn’t an antique tractor he didn’t like to admire or miss out on a tractor pull. Charles enjoyed his involvement with Ducks Unlimited, Whitetails, and the Moose Lodge. He also loved hunting, fishing and RVing with Karma in the southern states but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Donald Ray Richart
Donald Ray Richardt, 80, of Schofield passed away peacefully at Mount View Nursing Home in Schofield on July 1, 2017 with the love of his life, Gloria by his side. He was born November 5, 1936 to Ervin and Freda Richardt. He is survived by his wife Gloria, with whom he was married to for 63 years. He is also survived by his four sons: Randall (Pam) of Merrill, Kevin (Lori) of Sturgeon Bay, Sean (Cindy) of Wausau and Curtis (Coreen) of Wausau, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Wallace, Maurice, Arden and one sister, Linda.
Don grew up in Summit, SD, where he worked on the family farm until he was 16. He then moved to Chicago to work for the Milwaukee Railroad. At age 17, he married Gloria and moved to Milwaukee. Don continued to work various jobs until starting at Wausau Chemical in 1979. He worked there as a salesman until he retired in 2001. In his free time, Don enjoyed bowling with Gloria, golfing with his sons, puttering in his garage and tending to his yard. Don will mostly be remembered for his positive attitude, kind heart and wonderful sense of humor.

Visitation will be held at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will again be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Father Augustine Bentil will be officiating. Nancy is survived by: daughter Jane(Rodney)Hempel of Medford and a son James(Sarah) Schreiner Jr. of Rib Lake. A daughter Jean Ann Schreiner(Viken) preceded her in passing. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jessica(Jon)Frahmann, Benjamin(Ashley)Hempel of Medford, Alicia-David-Samantha-Rhonda Viken of Dorchester, and Trinity-Teagun Schreiner of Rib Lake. Great Grandchildren: Camren & Noah Frahmann, Shelby-BettyLou-Reminton-DrakeLyn-EmmaLynn Hempel. Surviving siblings are: Sisters Kay(Bruce)Rinehart of Ogema and Jackie Mabie of Medford, Brothers Bill(Joanne)Peterson, Jeff(Susan)Peterson all of Westboro. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by daughter Jean Ann Schreiner(Viken), 3 brothers Walter(Michele)Peterson, Alden(Lynn)Peterson Jr of Biloxi Miss and baby boy Peterson Also 1 sister Alice Ann Peterson.
