TOWN OF FARMINGTON — A 55-year-old pedestrian walking down the middle of Hwy. 54 was struck and killed by a 17-year-old driver, police said.

The crash happened at about 10 p.m. Friday in the town of Farmington, according to a Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The pedestrian, whose name and gender have not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old SUV driver who struck the pedestrian was not injured in the crash, police said.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, Waupaca Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Gold Cross Ambulance Services, Waupaca Fire Department, Waupaca County Highway Department and Waupaca County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.

Highway 54 at County Highway Q was closed Friday night for nearly three hours following the crash, which remains under investigation.
