Dairy Queen Blizzard sales July 27 support local CMN hospitals

MARSHFIELD – Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) is continuing to help sick and injured children in Wisconsin with specialized care through its new partnership at Marshfield Children’s Hospital, a service of Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS).

MCHS’s acquisition of Marshfield Medical Center, formerly Saint Joseph’s Hospital, allows MCHS to now offer CMNH services to children and families throughout central and northern Wisconsin.

“Marshfield Clinic has provided care for children in the Marshfield community and beyond for 100 years and we’re excited to continue that through a partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” said MCHS CEO Dr. Susan Turney. “We look forward to expanding the services we offer at Marshfield Medical Center to best care for children and their families.”

Marshfield Children’s Hospital is one of Wisconsin’s three CMN Hospitals. Though CMNH raises funds for 170 member hospitals nationwide, 100 percent of the funds raised locally will stay within MCHS’s CMNH service area to help provide programs like Child Life, new diagnostic and treatment equipment, and direct assistance to families in need.

An example is Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day Thursday, July 27. Buy any sized blizzard at a participating Dairy Queen and the funds will support local CMN Hospitals. Find a location near you at www.miracletreatday.com. Twelve Dairy Queen locations in central and northern Wisconsin will benefit Marshfield Children’s Hospital.

One of the services provided through CMNH is the Child Life Program. Child Life specialists minimize the stress of medical procedures for children through preparation, medical play and education. Though the annual cost of Child Life is almost $500,000, support from donors and CMNH means patients are never charged for this service.

“Child Life, and other CMNH programs, ensure that our littlest patients have the comfort, care, and treatment they need,” said Teri Wilczek, chief philanthropy officer, MCHS Foundation. “As a CMNH partner, we will continue to provide hope for kids and families throughout our Health System.”

CMNH programs are made possible through strong community support. Each year, thousands of community members work together to support kids in need, host volunteer fundraisers, and gather support from friends and family. National events from participating organizations, such as Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day, support local CMN Hospitals. MCHS Foundation also will host events year-round year to benefit CMNH programs.
