TOWN OF FARMINGTON — A 15-year-old boy is dead following what appears to be an accidental shooting Wednesday in the town of Farmington, according to a Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The shooting was reported just before 1 p.m. at an address on Rieben Road, police said. The teen was shot in the shoulder. Witnesses at the scene of the shooting followed lifesaving instructions given by the Waupaca County Communications Center, but the boy died before a medical helicopter could arrive at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe the shooting was accidental, but an investigation remains underway.

The name of the victim has not yet been publicly released.
