WAUSAU – A 37-year-old man accused of two Wausau armed robberies has confessed to an Aug. 2 homicide and attempted homicide in Madison, according to court documents.

Curtis Langlois is being held in the Marathon County Jail on a $1 million cash bond. He faces charges filed Aug. 11 in Marathon County Circuit Court of armed robbery with use of force, possession of a firearm as a felon and theft. Homicide charges are expected to be filed Monday in Dane County against Langlois.

After surveillance photos were released on Tuesday, police arrested Langlois outside of WalMart in Rib Mountain, according to a news release. Langlois is accused robbing Family Video in Wausau on Aug. 2 and the Fast Break Mobil station on Aug. 7. Police say Langlois netted at least $2,650 in the combined gunpoint robberies.

Police said a distinguishing skin discoloration spot was visible when viewing the Fast Break Mobil robbery surveillance video and helped lead to Langlois’s identification.

While in custody, Langlade confessed to killing one person and badly injuring another while robbing a convenience store in Madison on the same day he robbed the Wausau video store in Wausau, according to the criminal complaint.

Police say Kendrith Young, 32, of Waukesha was shot and killed on Aug. 2 at a Madison 7-11 store. A 29-year-old man was also wounded. Chief Mike Koval told reporters the incident was a targeted shooting.

Police say two suspects wearing masks walked up to the victims, pointed their guns at point blank range and began shooting. At least 10 shell casings were recovered at the scene.

Federal court records show Langlois was on supervised release connected to a 2008 federal conviction on conspiracy charges at the time of his arrest. According to the federal complaint, Langlois served 100 months in prison after he was convicted of “casing” businesses to allow a co-conspirator to rob them.

Court records show he will be turned over to the federal government for violating the terms of his release at a later date.

A preliminary hearing on the armed robbery charges is slated for Wednesday.
