Due to overwhelming interest in the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art’s 2017 National Juried Art Exhibition, some artists encountered technical issues when submitting their work.

“To ensure that everyone who wants to enter is able to, the museum has decided to extend the deadline for entries to midnight, September 1, 2017,” said David Hummer, executive director, WMOCA.

Details for the competition are posted on the website of the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, www.wmoca.org.

Alyssa Monks, a Master of Contemporary Realism and Juror for the WMOCA show, will announce the “Best of Show” artist and recipient of $10,000 in Wausau on October 7. Monks sits on the Board of Trustees for the New York Academy of Art and was just recognized as one of the top 30 most influential female artists of our lifetime. Her works are exhibited and collected internationally.

All artists, 18 years of age or older and residing in the United States, are encouraged to enter the first annual National Juried Art Exhibition sponsored by the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art (WMOCA). Selected artists’ works will be on exhibit for the public October 6 through December 29.

“This is an open-theme exhibit and will become an annual event,” Hummer said. “Any artists working in any medium, with the exception of video and computer generated work are encouraged to enter online.”
