Sara Hujar has been named executive director of Wausau Events, according to a news release issued Wednesday.
Hujar comes to Wausau from Green Bay, where her previous event management, marketing, volunteer relations, and promotions experience will provide Wausau Events with exceptional guidance as it continues to produce high quality, affordable events for the community, according to the release.
In her role, Hujar will be instrumental in delivering diverse events and experiences designed to enhance the quality of life for Wausau residents while attracting visitors to the area. Hujar’s experience as well as passion for events will fill a critical role in the Wausau community as she takes over the reins from previous director Lindsey Lewitzke, who announced last month she is leaving the organization.
“Sara’s event management experience, in addition to her obvious passion for events and our community-minded mission, will be a wonderful asset to Wausau Events,” said Elizabeth Knight, Wausau Events board president. “Our board is excited to have Sara join us and have no doubt she’ll bring great ideas and leadership to our organization.”
The Wausau Events board of directors, in the release, also expressed their gratitude to Lewitzke for her service as executive director.
“We are grateful for her outstanding work and dedication to our organization and her willingness to remain onboard through training and support of Sara. We are excited for her and her growing family and look forward to having her continued involvement with the organization as a member of the board in 2018,” Knight said.
