TOWN OF SENECA — One person is dead and one person is injured following an early morning crash Thursday in the town of Seneca, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.
The single-vehicle rollover happened about 4:30 a.m. on Hwy. D near Mattheis Road, police said. An initial investigation shows the driver, 21-year-old Ethan L Smith of Vesper, lost control of the vehicle while entering a curve, flipping the vehicle. Smith, along with his 21-year-old passenger, Brennan S. Ruchinski of Wisconsin Rapids, were both ejected from the vehicle.
Ruchinski walked to a nearby home for help before being transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said. Smith died at the scene.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
