A Black River Falls man on bond for his seventh drunken driving case was arrested Saturday for driving a motorized bike while drunk in Jackson County, according to the sheriff’s department.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped Kelly O’Brien, 52, about 10 p.m. after he was weaving between traffic on Hwy. 54 in the town of Brockway. O’Brien admitted that he was drunk but refused field sobriety tests, according to the department.
He faces his eighth drunken driving charge when he appears in Jackson County Circuit Court.
O’Brien’s seventh OWI charge was even more bizarre.
That happened in May, when O’Brien was picked up while he was headed to prison. Police say he walked up to the front doors of the Jackson Correctional Institute in the town of Brockway with what appeared to be a baseball bat and then approached a security vehicle.
Then, too, O’Brien had been driving a motorized bike, according to police. He had a 0.27 percent preliminary blood-alcohol concentration and a large flashlight shaped like a baseball bat, according to the department.
