WAUSAU — A 27-year-old Wausau man who police say sped down First Avenue after leaving a west side tavern is facing an array of charges after he allegedly careened into a parked car and then hit a house.

The crash happened just after midnight Friday, police said. The driver, Jacob Jackson, is facing preliminary charges of second-offense drunken driving and misdemeanor bail jumping along with multiple citations related to the crash.

Police said Jackson was driving his girlfriend’s truck after leaving a Third Avenue tavern when the crash happened. The parked car was pushed several hundred yards down the road and the truck hit a gas meter on the side of the home, police said.

Jackson was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Officials say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

As of Friday afternoon, Jackson was being held in the Marathon County Jail and is set to appear in court later today.
