TOWN OF EAU PLEINE — The driver of a motorcycle is dead after crashing into the back of a slowing vehicle Friday in the town of Eau Pleine, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash was reported at about 5:18 p.m. on Hwy. E, north of Hwy. 153, police said.

An initial investigation shows the motorcycle was following a passenger car northbound on Hwy. E when a third vehicle came into view in a driveway. The driver of the northbound car slowed after seeing the third vehicle, which led the trailing motorcycle to crash into the rear of the vehicle, according to police.

The motorcycle driver, whose name, age, and gender have not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The vehicle in the driveway did not enter the roadway and was not actively involved in the crash, police said.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department crash reconstruction team is investigating the crash. Additional information will be released after family members are notified and given time to process their loss, police said.
