Wausau, WI – The Center for the Visual Arts is showcasing the Primary Focus – Featuring Valerie Berkely exhibit in the NEW CVA Vault Gallery now through January 6, 2018.
The Opening Gallery Gala for Berkely’s exhibit will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20.
Local contemporary artist Valerie Berkely is a painter who challenges herself in new media and techniques in the “Primary Focus” exhibit. For this fresh body of work in oil and cold wax medium, Val only works with the primary colors plus white, pushing the textural paint into more abstract images based on a sense of light and space. It is the feeling of the landscape, perhaps with a hint of actuality, which is her primary focus.
The upcoming exhibit in the CVA Caroline S. Mark Gallery is Roots – Where Are You Now? and the WRAP (Wisconsin Regional Art Program) exhibit in the CVA Loft Gallery. These exhibits are scheduled for September 29 – November 11, 2017.

The “Roots – Where Are You Now?” exhibit was open to artists over the age of 18. An artist’s artistic, geographic, and cultural roots play significant roles in their artistic process and statement. The exhibit will highlight original fine art inspired by an artist’s perspective of their “roots” and artistic journey. Interpretations of the theme may be broad. The exhibit will feature local and regional artists.
The WRAP (Wisconsin Regional Art Program) exhibit encourages non-professional, student, and emerging artists to create and exhibit their work across the state of Wisconsin. Run by UW-Madison Continuing Studies, WRAP is looking forward from a rich past of 76 years. The CVA features this exhibit in the Loft Gallery for the local WRAP chapter every year.
The CVA is an arts nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging people in the visual arts and adding to the livability of the Wausau regional community.
