TOWN OF JOHNSON — Police have released the name of the 31-year-old Athens woman who died Saturday in a crash that left four other people injured, including three children.

Jennifer Leigh Hobl was driving northbound at about 10:15 a.m. Saturday on Hwy. E in the town of Johnson when she failed to stop at a stop sign, police said. Her vehicle, a 2006 Pontiac G6, was t-boned by a minivan traveling westbound on Hwy. A, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

Hobl died at the scene.

A 9-year-old boy traveling with Hobl was injured and was transported to Marshfield Medical Center, according to the crash report.

The driver of the minivan, 40-year-old Nicole Dassow of Athens, was injured, as were two children in Dassow’s vehicle, a 2-year-old boy and a 4-month-old infant, police said. All three people in the minivan were transported to Marshfield Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Police shut down the highway for nearly five hours as crash reconstruction experts investigated the crash. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash, though routine blood test results are pending.

The town of Johnson is in the northwestern part of Marathon County, south of Athens.
