A 25-year-old man who held police at bay for more than five hours during a standoff in Marshfield has been extradited to Kansas to face armed robbery charges.

Michael Lea was arrested Sept. 25 at a home on E. Kalsched Street following the standoff, which began just before 10 a.m. and ended around 3 p.m., police said.

Lea was wanted in Kansas on felony armed robbery charges and was considered armed and dangerous based on his prior conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a news release.

Officers from the Marshfield Police Department, Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, City of Spencer Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol surrounded the house. Lea eventually surrendered, and no shots were fired.

Lea is in custody in the Johnson County Jail in Olathe, Kansas.
