MENOMONIE — The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating an accident in Menomonie in which an unidentified man was run over by a Menomonie Police car around 1 a.m. Sunday.
In a written statement, Dunn County Sheriff Dennis Smith said the man was run over on Wilson Street, just west of 2nd Street West.
The man was taken to Mayo Menomonie and later transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Smith said. Neither his condition nor his identity has not been released.
It was homecoming weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Employees at several bars and restaurants said they were unaware of the incident, but that with homecoming bringing more people into town, the person who was injured might not have been familiar with the area.
The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating.
