WAUSAU — A 28-year-old Wausau man is accused of smoking marijuana with a 10-year-old child, while the child’s mother is accused of doing nothing to stop him.

Police say Christopher Burger and his fiancee, 31-year-old Kathryn White, smoked marijuana up to three times a day in front of the boy and his 2-year-old sister. White is the mother of both children.

Both Burger and White are due in court Nov. 16 for an initial appearance on felony child abuse charges.

Investigators were first called to the couple’s west side home in October after a tip that Burger and White were using drugs in front of their children, according to court documents. When confronted, Burger admitted smoking marijuana with the boy twice and told investigators he smoked regularly in front of the children, who were then removed from the home.

Burger faces charges filed Nov. 2 in Marathon County Circuit Court of child abuse/recklessly casing harm, contributing to the delinquency of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charges against White include child abuse/failure to prevent bodily harm. Neither suspect is currently in custody.

Both Burger and White admitted to making “bad decisions,” and White told investigators she will do whatever it takes to get her children back.
