TOWN OF CLEVELAND — Police have identified the man who died after he became entangled in a power take-off unit of a tractor as 78-year-old Raymond Punke.

Police were called just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday to a farm in the town of Cleveland after workers had found Punke passed out in a field. Deputies say Punke’s sweatshirt had gotten caught in the power take-off shaft of the tractor, pulling him into the shaft.

A power take-off shaft, or PTO, is used to transfer power from a tractor to an implement.

Punke was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marathon County Medical Examiner. The incident has been ruled an accident.
