The Wausau RiverWolves on Friday fell to the North Iowa Bulls by a score of 5-1, in the first of a two-game series at Marathon Park Ice Arena.

The Bulls have a strong record of 15-0 so far this season. Friday was the first matchup between the two teams.

The RiverWolves came into Friday’s game with a two-game winning streak after the team earned their first two wins as an NA3HL franchise last weekend.  North Iowa was able to get the go-ahead goal at the end of the first period, then scored two more unanswered goals in the second before the RiverWolves were able to get on the board.

Owen Routheut, native of Feversham, Ontario notched his fourth goal of the year at the 15:35 mark of the second period, with Garrett Alton and Connor Moore assisting for the RiverWolves.

North Iowa tacked on two more goals in the third period, for a 5-1 final.  In goal for Wausau was Henry Baribeau, who stopped 50 of 55 shots on the evening.

The Wausau RiverWolves will continue their homestand tomorrow tonight as they host the North Iowa Bulls for game two at Marathon Park Ice Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
