LA CROSSE — A 33-year-old show choir co-director for the La Crosse School District is facing criminal charges that accuse him of sexually assaulting a student.

Dustin Bagstad of La Crosse faces charges of second-degree sexual assault of a child, repeated second-degree sexual assault of the same child and sexual assault of a student by school staff, according to court records.

According to a La Crosse Tribune report, Bagstad, who is a part-time employee of the school district, is on administrative leave and cannot have contact with students or be on school property.

Superintendent Randy Nelson issued a letter to parents this week advising that counselors and social workers will be available for students, parents and staff.
