WESTON, Wis. – The D C Everest school board is set to consider some major funding packages this month at a series of meetings.
The board is scheduled to vote on a $25 million bond package to pay for renovations at school facilities at its meeting on Dec. 13. That bonding is a product of what’s known as Act 32, which allows school districts to directly issue bonds to pay for energy efficiency projects rather than having to go to a general referendum for approval.
School officials say they’ll be working to pay for replacement of aging HVAC, lighting, heating, and air conditioning units across the district.
The school board is also scheduled to hold a retreat next week to discuss whether or not they will be looking for a special referendum in the spring to pay for other facilities improvements in the district that do not fall under the umbrella of energy efficiency improvements. A long term facilities study has been prepared and the results will be shared with the board at that time.
A letter sent to the media stresses that this is a look at a possible referendum and that no decisions have been made at this time.
