Each week, Blessings in a Backpack packs nearly 1,100 bags with food for weekend meals, given to children in need.

For these kids, these packs are often the only source of food they get over the weekends. This is a service provided free of charge to those who qualify.

Blessings in a Backpack D.C. Everest/Wausau is asking the community for donations of hot chocolate boxes/packets (single serve) for the food packages that will be sent home for the holiday break. This extra special “treat” will accompany food normally put into the packs – breakfast and dinners.

Blessings is encouraging companies to organize hot chocolate drives within their business. Those who do organize should email [email protected] for arrangements for pick up or drop off of supplies gathered. All donations are needed by December 11 in order to pack the bags for the holiday break.

Individual donations are also being accepted at Melissa Marie Salon in Rib Mountain. Monetary donations are also welcome on the organization’s website, www.bibdcewausau.org
