Crews battle Wausau storage facility blaze

WAUSAU — Fire crews are at the scene of a fire at a large storage facility on Wausau’s west side.

The blaze was reported just after 6 a.m. at Central Storage, 1212 West Street, according to fire officials. Several departments are at the scene.

Heavy smoke poured from the building as crews battled the blaze for more than two hours on Tuesday, and a portion of West Street remained closed to traffic at 8:30 a.m.

Central Storage is a 60,000 square foot facility providing refrigerated and dry storage, with headquarters in Madison.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
