Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) celebrates the golden age of radio with a live stage production of Oscar Wilde’s Canterville Ghost on February 9 in Wausau.
Hosted by WPR’s Norman Gilliland and the 9XM Players, the show features period costumes, a live sound effects artist and music. Tickets are on sale now at wpr.org/ghost for the 7 p.m. performance at the James F. Veninga Theater on the UW-Marathon County campus in Wausau.
Gilliland, who hosts classical music and Old Time Radio Drama on WPR statewide, will emcee the event.
“The show takes us back to World War II when an American family moves to England and into the haunted Canterville Manor,” said Gilliland. “It’s a comedy in parts, a love story in others, and a fun production that really reflects the golden age of radio acting. It’s old time radio like you’ve never seen it before.”
