CRANDON — A 29-year-old man is dead following an apparent heroin overdose and two people are in custody in connection with his death, police confirmed Thursday.

The Forest County Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 29 were called to a town of Nashville home for a report of a man who was not breathing, police said. When officers arrived, they attempted to resuscitate Warren K. VanZile, but they were not successful.

Investigators say VanZile had been using heroin shortly before his death.

Noel Vandiver, 34 (above left), and Florence E. Gomez, 24 (above right), both of Crandon, have been arrested in connection with the death, officials said, but no charges have yet been filed.
