MADISON – A 37-year-old man accused of two Wausau armed robberies has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release for an Aug. 2 murder in Madison, according to court documents.
Curtis Langlois appeared in Dane County Circuit Court on Thursday. Police said Langlois shot and killed Kendrith J. Young, 33, and wounded Rodney Lemon Jr., during an armed robbery at a Madison 7-11 convenience store. Langlois pleaded not guilty to first degree intentional homicide and attempted first degree intentional homicide in November.
Langlois was arrested in August in Wausau on charges of armed robbery with use of force, possession of a firearm as a felon and theft in connection with two local armed robberies. Police say Langlois was armed with a handgun when he robbed Family Video in Wausau on Aug. 2 and the Fast Break Mobil station on Aug. 7.
While in custody, Langlois confessed to the Madison shootings, according to court documents.
Federal court records show Langlois was on supervised release connected to a 2008 federal conviction on conspiracy charges at the time of his arrest. According to the federal complaint, Langlois served 100 months in prison after he was convicted of “casing” businesses to allow a co-conspirator to rob them.
The Marathon County charges against Langlois were ultimately dismissed after he was charged in Dane County with homicide.
