WESTON – The Wausau metro area now has a new supper club, as the Jig opens its doors for business this weekend.
The new club is built inside of the former Iozzo’s restaurant, and went through major renovations under the direction of the Tobalsky family. Co-owner Marcy Tobalsky says they wanted to make the location their own after its time as Iozzo’s.
“We wanted to define who we were, and I think we did that,” Tobalsky said.
A major theme of the restaurant is fishing, and that decor is used throughout, along with raining water fixtures that separate the main room from the patio.
Tobalsky says The Jig is meant to help preserve the idea and culture of the Supper Club.
“Linen napkins, the tablecloths, high quality steaks and of course hand muddled old fashioneds,” she said. “It’s a dying breed and it’s something we grew up with.”
Patrons can expect to find a family friendly atmosphere and excellent views of the Eau Claire River. Tobalsky wants people to know that their kids are also welcome at The Jig.
“As parents of five, that was important to us,” she said. “Parents can come here and have a good meal and it’s not McDonalds.”
The Tobalsky’s have also enlisted a veteran bartender in the Wausau area. Trish Hartwig says she was happy to come to work at The Jig.
“I was really looking for an establishment where it was approachable and comfortable, and where people can come in and know the staff,” Hartwig said, noting that the new location is respectful of the tradition of Iozzo’s, while keeping a fresh and modern look for patrons.
The Jig is open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 pm to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm, and open Sunday for brunch at 9 am. You can find more information online at their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pg/
