WAUSAU — A judge on Friday issued a warrant for a 36-year-old Wausau man accused of assaulting a 4-year-old girl at a Rib Mountain daycare, after he failed to show up in court for a motions hearing.

Miguel Angel Ruiz faces charges filed in August 2016 of first degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement, and exposing genitals to a child. He has been free since September 2016 on a $3,000 cash bond, court records show.

This is the second time Ruiz failed to appear in court and the second time a judge has filed a warrant for Ruiz’s arrest. Court records show the suspect also failed to show for an initial appearance on Aug. 18, 2016; he was captured three weeks later.

Ruiz is accused of forcing the girl, who is now 12, to perform oral sex at a former daycare run by his wife.

Ruiz, who has no prior criminal history in Wisconsin and faces more than 65 years in prison if he is convicted, denies the accusations.

The day care is now closed.
