NEW LISBON — A 36-year-old woman dead and another man is injured after a hit and run crash late Tuesday in New Lisbon.

The crash was reported at 9:24 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 12 and 16, according to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say the 36-year-old Kendall woman was trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by rescue crews with the New Lisbon Fire Department. She was transported to Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston and was declared dead a short time later, the Juneau Messenger reports.

A second person was injured in the crash and is hospitalized, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the New Lisbon Police, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Juneau County Coroner. At this time no names have been released.
