UNITY — Two Spencer-area teens were injured late Tuesday when the pickup they were riding in was struck by a train, police said.

The crash happened at about 9 p.m. on Century Road in the town of Unity, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the pickup, Austin K. Krueger, 18, tried to stop byt slid down the hill and struck the train, police said. Krueger suffered minor injuries and was taken to Marshfield Medical Center for treatment.

A passenger in Krueger’s vehicle, 19-year-old Courtney Wallace, was seriously injured in the crash, according to police.

Both Krueger and Wallace were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
